City Hall, the Library, and all offices will be closed on Thursday due to Hurricane Helene. 

Curbside Collection 

GFL will be collecting garbage tomorrow. Pickup will start at 6:00 a.m.

  • Lake County remains under a Tropical Storm Watch as Hurricane Helene continues to strengthen as she moves into the Gulf of Mexico. 
  • Lake County anticipates 2 to 4 inches of rain and strong sustained winds as well as gusts.
  • Local impacts are expected to begin late Wednesday with heavy rain and strong winds with conditions deteriorating throughout Thursday.
  • The storm is expected to continue to strengthen and make landfall Thursday in Florida’s Big Bend area as a major hurricane.

Lake County has self-serve sandbag operations at the following locations:

  • East Lake Sports and Community Complex - 24809 Wallick Road in Sorrento
  • Frank Brown Sports Complex – 1245 E. Pine Avenue in Mount Dora
  • North Lake Regional Park - 40730 Roger Giles Road in Umatilla
  • Four Corners Fire Station 112 – 16240 CR474 in Clermont
  • Hickory Point Recreation Complex – 27315 SR 19 in Tavares

The following locations will have on-site assistance to fill bags:

  • Astor Fire Station 10 - 23023 State Road 40 in Astor
  • Minneola Athletic Complex - 1300 Fosgate Road/13930 Education Ave. in Minneola
  • PEAR Gateway Park – 26701 US Hwy 27 in Leesburg

These sandbag locations will be open: 

Tuesday, September 24, until 7 p.m.

Wednesday, September 25, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (as weather permits)

The Citizens Information Line (352-253-9999) will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.  and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Thursday as well to assist residents during the storm.
